MY FIRST GIVEAWAY! I officially have the sweetest bf on earth. Unbeknownst to me, he sent an email to Essie telling them about my blog and my obsession with their polish. Essie, being the wonderful company they are, sent me the ENTIRE LuxEffects collection! Of course I had to keep a few polishes for myself, but I decided to share the love and do my first giveaway!
Here are the rules:
- You MUST be following me at nailyoudown.tumblr.com
- You MUST reblog this post for one entry
- You can like this post for one additional entry
- There will be ONE winner and they will receive 3 polishes from Essie’s LuxEffexts collection (A Cut Above, Pure Pearlfection, As Gold As It Gets). The bottles are straight from the factory so they don’t look exactly like the ones in the store but they are the same polishes.
- The contest will end in at 11:59 PST on January 31, 2012
- I will use random.org to select a winner and they will be notified via their ask box
- If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Good luck!
- NOTE: Rules were updated 6:10 PM PST on January 17, 2012. Please make sure you are following all of them to be eligible. :)

This was near the beginning of the school year and was one of my personal favorite mani’s. I started off with tipping my nails in OPI’s Alpine Peaks then going over that in Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Green With Envy (a more opaque light green). Let that Dry for quite a while, you really want a hard base for this last part, I went over the tips again with Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Ivy League (more of a sheer sparkly green/gold colour), let that dry completely. Mixing lit’s solid plush glitter with clear polish, don’t use too much of the polish to mix with, maybe on a separate plate, you want the glitter to be not so subtle. Paint the glitter onto the whole area between your mani’s tip and clear area, LET DRY this is the hard part because the glitter concoction will be soft for a little while because its thicker, so just hold out for a little bit and you’ll be set once you put on one more layer of clear coat! Voila!
This was my favorite Autum manicure! Candy Corn <3 I started with a full coat of OPI’s Alpine Peaks, then going 1/3 the way up the nail from the tip, do the other 2/3 of your nail with Revlon’s 60 second dry in Golden. Let that dry for a bit, then carefully do one strip the size of your polish’s brush of orange down the middle. I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Nylon in Tahiti Sunrise, and as its more of a translucent colour I had to do 2 layers. I really enjoyed Tahiti Sunrise with Revlon’s Golden because of the sparkle in the orange and metalic in the gold. If your having trouble free handing the lines i suggest using a piece of scotch tape to create your lines and make the difference, but MAKE SURE THE LAYERS ARE VERY DRY FIRST otherwise your going to end up ruining your pretty nails. clear coat and Voila!
Hahah so I know I don’t have the prettiest toes but this polish came out quite pretty. I watched a tutorial on the tye-dye design on youtube and its really quite simple, take a triangle foam makeup sponge and choose your colours (i went with sally hansen hard as nails xtreme wear in green with envy and blue me away! ) Use a white base (i used OPI’s alpine peaks) and let that dry. Then dip the tip of your sponge into the polish you want to start with and fill in a section, gently starting into the other areas. choose your second colour and fill in the other section, you want to blend the two together a bit to get the right effect. Put a clear coat overtop to seal. For the zebra stripes I use L.A colours Art Deco in black (much like a regular polish but comes with a very thin pointed long brush meant for making polish designs) find a picture of zebra stripes on the web and just use them for reference. don’t fear, its simpler than it looks once you keep at it. just go stripe by stripe. Voila!
